Timeline
Section titled “Timeline”March 10, 2026 — Steam and Epic builds delayed by about a week. The announcement titled “DELAY ONLY IN STEAM/EPIC GAMES” separated the two tracks for the first time: other platforms stayed on schedule while the store builds slipped. It also established the point that still holds today — all launchers connect to the same server and the same account.
March 22, 2026 — Steam Status Report; release pushed to August. The most substantial announcement the project has published. It states plainly that Dead Zone Revive is a not-for-profit fan-run project, in agreement with Con Artist Games, that the original game’s source code was lost to time, and that the team is reverse-engineering the old server logic to rebuild it. The delay to August is attributed to that complexity, to the main developer’s health and exams, and to the studio’s own view that it could not secure a Steam greenlight with the game in its state at the time. Full announcement.
May 10, 2026 — August 3 fixed as the release date. The “New release date (alpha)” announcement set a fixed date and described what the build would be: a second release of the alpha version, centred on bug fixes, shipping with a patch note detailing what was repaired. The same post put wishlists above 8,000 and listed the official forum and Discord as support channels.
July 29, 2026 — Release confirmed, Steam version delayed again. The final pre-launch announcement held the August 3 date but separated it from the store release: the review build had not been submitted in time for Steam’s approval process, so the game would appear on Steam roughly one to two weeks after submission instead. Players were pointed to a direct download link with its own launcher on the official site. The post also described a private Early Access session run in the days before launch, with testers and the developer fixing bugs daily.
August 3, 2026 — Release day. The date held. The route in is the official launcher rather than Steam, as set out on how to play now, and the store situation is broken down on the Steam release page.
